Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I feel most comfortable in an old pair of blue jeans and a plain T-shirt but lately, I've been trying on new looks from local makers and handmade clothing which feels really special to wear. I also am obsessed with big earrings and but they have to be comfortable so fiber and beaded earrings have been my jam lately.
Q: What are you currently inspired by?
A: People making things and indulging their creativity! I often get caught up with the negative happenings in the world and am inspired by those who drive on and continue to channel their passion into creative endeavors. I am also greatly inspired by mother nature, the seasons, and the stars!
Q: What brands or products do you love at Rare Bird?
A: I love the Passionflower Spray and other blends from White Sage Wellness. It is a refreshing way to relax and take a moment to center and ground myself. I also love handmade jewelry and Hart Variations incorporates the most beautiful butterfly wings and other natural elements in her pieces. Any item she creates with a Blue Morpho Moth wing makes me swoon!
Q: Do you have an artistic practice? &/OR What are you currently creating?
A: I have a tapestry weaving practice and find so much joy when sitting down at the loom, and am particularly inspired by the colors and textures created by independent wool suppliers. I also have a background in nutrition, so I am always looking at new recipes and learning as much as I can about holistic health care, herbalism, and the human body!
Q: What workshops would you recommend to our student community, and what upcoming classes are you most excited about?
A: I would highly recommend the Meet Your Sewing Machine Workshop to anyone looking to feel confident and knowledgable when approaching learning to sew for the first time. I am so excited about the upcoming Spell Jar Planetary Magik workshop and individual readings with local astrologist and jewelry queen Katie Evans, as I have been looking to deepen my knowlege around astrology .
Q: What are you doing when you're not at Rare Bird?
A: Weaving, cooking, and spending time with my loved ones- and also staying aware and active of what is going on in the world! I feel so lucky having grown up in the Bay Area, it is so rich with culture, amazing food, and natural beauty, and it is such a blessing to be here with no shortage of adventures to be had.
Q: What is your favorite quote / motto / song / proverb ?
A: "Too blessed to be stressed" is something I heard long ago and I've held onto as a motto and mantra to remember whenever I am feeling frustrated with life. I remember my privilege and gifts and put whatever I am struggling with into perspective.
