Join artist and yoga teacher April McMurtry on a journey to deepen the connection of breath and self-expression in this intuitive process guided by the moon. In this workshop we will have fun exploring mindfulness creativity warm-ups, incorporating awareness of the breath through kundalini yoga meditations, and creating a multi-media mandala that shines light on your authentic self. Mandalas represent wholeness, and the moon teaches us how to honor all the phases of expression from emptiness to fullness. Together we will work with elements of the lunar cycle as the waxing and waning of the moon are similar to the inhale and exhale of the breath. Your relationship with breath is what connects you to the universe and the experience of belonging to everything.
We will begin by translating the experience of the breath onto paper and not worrying about how it looks, rather connecting with how it feels. This can be so liberating for the critical mind, and the results are surprisingly stunning. Come and be inspired to express yourself with pastel, watercolor, earth paint, and collage in this transformative mandala workshop. You don't need to call yourself an artist or have experience with meditation to receive the benefits of this creative healing practice.
Colored pencils, pastels, other art supplies and paper provided. This workshop draws on the teachings of Hari Kirin in her book Art & Yoga: Kundalini Awakening in Everyday Life.
