In this beginner ring making workshop, students will learn the basics of filing, soldering, and sawing, while making themselves simple hammered bands! Rings are one of the easiest beginners item to make when learning basic metalsmithing. We will start class with demos on each technique that will be used and then apply techniques with teacher guidance. Everyone will go home with 3 thin practice brass bands, 3 thin silver bands, and 1 extra thick silver band.
We will be working with fire in this class which will be super fun! We also must take precautions.
Please make sure to wear closed toed shoes. We don't want anyone's toes to be burned if hot metal falls on the ground.
If you have long hair please remember to bring a clip or a hair tie to tie your hair back. The instructor also has a stash of hair ties if you happen to forget.
