Kato Lawton is a 3rd generation Bay Area native creating art and jewelry in her home studio in West Oakland, California.
Educated in painting, printmaking and scientific illustration at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Kato has followed a design path from large scale theatrical sets and scenic art, murals and installations to graphic design and technical illustration. Her fascination with gemstones and metals has been a constant hum, as jewelry making has moved from hobby to craft over the last 12 years. These diverse artistic endeavors have come together to form her unique vision and aesthetic, characterized by elegance and structure, color and line, balance and contrast.
