Are you curious to explore your creative side, but not sure where to start? Making abstract art is a fun, free-form creative experiment, and there is no right or wrong way to go! Learn how to incorporate multiple materials and techniques into your paintings including transfers and texture to create a personalized and layered finished product.

All materials are included though it could be fun to bring some hand selected materials of your own.  Here are some ideas: xeroxed images, doodles, written/typed text or any other collage materials to use in paintings.

Jenn Leighton Parker

Jenn is an Oakland, CA based artist and art educator. She has earned a BFA in painting and a MA in Art and Religion. She teaches art at Castro Valley High School and conducts private lessons in her studio. She currently enjoys spending time with her family and to explore texture and design through the media of encaustic collage. Layers and texture are important elements in her work revealing a variety of materials. Inspiration is found within natural elements, vintage drawings, playful child inspired designs, religious symbols, and language: specifically English and ASL (American Sign Language, her parents are deaf). Her career as an art educator has allowed her to learn many different processes and techniques for fun diy projects.
