Natural dyeing is a powerful way to extend your study of medicinal plants and connect to the clothing you wear. In this class, you will learn how to prepare and scour materials for natural dyeing. We'll discuss how to create dye pots and ways to approach different types of fibers. We will dive into the medicinal properties of each plant we work with, and you will take home a number of naturally dyed samples on different types of fiber, along with a cotton bandana and silk scarf. Beginners welcome.

Instructor Kristin Arzt
Kristin is a textiles artist based in Oakland, CA, using natural dyes and textile arts as a form of collage to make one-of-a-kind quilts. The alchemy of natural indigo and medicinal plant dyes are particularly special art forms that she loves to share with others.
