Explore using wax as a resist on fabric and paper to create textiles using multi-dimensional layering in easy to do steps. Learn how to use contrasting colors to create simple and beautiful designs. Learning to work with wax, creating basic shapes, understanding colors, working with layers, techniques like stamping, crackle effect and landscape making are a few topics that will be covered.
Creating batiks is a wonderful way not only to express yourself but also to focus on patience and serendipity. Waiting for the dyes to set, slowly applying wax in just the right places, and repeating this process, again and again, is a wonderful way to spend a relaxing afternoon. Materials provided, all equipment for batiks wax, electric pan, fabric paints/dyes, brushes, fabric, ironing machine etc Students will take home 3 completed projects.

Instructor Rajni Kavula Rajni is a yoga teacher, reiki healer, mom and a handmade business owner. She has a degree in fine arts and believes in sustainable living. Rajni started her handmade journey with crochet and then later hand dyeing. She loves both the crafts equally. She enjoys working with natural fabrics like cotton, linen, rayon,silk, cotton yarn and acrylic/vegan yarn. At "Woolables", Rajni strives to create ethical, sustainable,one of a kind products using her intuition to guide her. She believes that each piece tells you a story. No two pieces are ever the same, though same technique, design or pattern is used, that is the beauty of handmade products !
